How to support the Lima Shawnee Scholarship Fund

DONATE

SHS graduates need the generosity and involvement of people like you, and every contribution to the Lima Shawnee Scholarship Fund provides greater opportunity to SHS graduates. To donate immediately, click on the DONATE NOW button above. Electronic donations may be made immediately by credit card or through PayPal. To donate by check, simply make your check payable to the LIMA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, include LIMA SHAWNEE SCHOLARSHIP FUND in the memo area, and send to the address at the bottom of this page. You can also click on the DONATION FORM page and follow the directions on the form.

In addition to contributing by check or credit card, here are some other ways you can support the Scholarship Fund…

BY DONATING APPRECIATED STOCK

Giving appreciated stock is usually better than giving cash. Benefits of gifting shares directly to the Lima Community Foundation (LCF) for use by the Lima Shawnee Scholarship Fund include:

  • A stock donation will generally create a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of the shares on the day you transfer them, no matter how much you originally paid.

  • You will not owe capital gains tax on any appreciation for shares you donate.

NAMING LCF AS A BENEFICIARY AND DESIGNATING YOUR GIFT TO THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Naming LCF as a beneficiary in your will or living trust and designating your gift to the Lima Shawnee Scholarship Fund helps secure future scholarships to Shawnee graduates.

  • Designating your support allows you to retain control of your assets in your lifetime and be comfortable knowing that at your passing your legacy gift will support future scholarships to Lima Shawnee High School graduates.

BY MAKING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION DIRECTLY FROM YOUR IRA

  • If you are 70 1/2, you can contribute up to $100,000 annually from your traditional IRA. The contribution must be directly to the Lima Community Foundation and may be made in support of the Scholarship Fund. This would allow you to use the enhanced standard deduction or itemize your deductions, and still receive a substantial tax benefit. If over 72, your donation counts toward your required mandatory distribution, but is not treated as taxable income for you.

These are just a few of the many ways you can use non-cash assets to help the Lima Shawnee Scholarship Fund succeed. For assistance with making your gift to the Lima Community Foundation, contact Adam Fazio, Interim Executive Director, by email at: LCFdirector@limacommunityfoundation.org.

However you choose to contribute, please email info@LimaShawneeScholarshipFund.org with your intentions so your contribution can be appropriately acknowledged. All donors who give $100 or more will also be recognized on the HONOR ROLL page unless you notify us by email and request your name be withheld.
